What is hermann recknagel?

Hermann Recknagel (1892-1965) was a German painter and graphic artist. He was born in Dresden and studied at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts before serving in World War I. After the war, Recknagel moved to Berlin and became a member of the Novembergruppe, a group of artists interested in modernism. He was also associated with the Berlin Secession and exhibited his work throughout Europe.

Recknagel's work often reflects his interest in science and technology, as well as his love of nature. He produced paintings, drawings, and prints that range from naturalistic depictions of animals and landscapes to more abstract, geometric works. In the 1930s, Recknagel's work was labeled "degenerate" by the Nazi regime, and he was forced to flee Germany. He lived in Sweden and later in Denmark before returning to Germany after the war.
